WID
Warning and Information Service (CERT-Bund)
Warn- und Informationsdienst des CERT-Bund
The WID is the warning and information service of CERT-Bund within the BSI. It publishes structured warnings on vulnerabilities in widely used products, each with a rating, affected versions and recommended actions. For German-speaking organisations it is a reliable, governmental early-warning source.
History & facts. The WID bundles the ongoing vulnerability monitoring of CERT-Bund into a publicly accessible, subscribable warning service at wid.cert-bund.de. The notices usually reference the underlying CVE identifiers, classify the urgency and name countermeasures. They are prepared so as to be usable both for specialist personnel and for managers without deep technical specialisation.
Contact & access. Warnings are freely available at wid.cert-bund.de and can be subscribed to; the WID is part of CERT-Bund and thus of the BSI (service centre 0800 274 1000). As a governmental, German-language source it is well suited for integration into one's own situational monitoring.
Outlook & recommendation. A governmental, German-language warning source is particularly valuable for organisations that lack their own threat-intelligence team. The WID delivers the greatest benefit when its notices are not merely read but systematically matched against one's own asset inventory — since only affected systems require action. This turns a warning into a prioritised task.
