CERT-Bund is the German federal computer emergency response team, located within the BSI. It monitors the threat landscape, warns of acute vulnerabilities and attack campaigns via the Warning and Information Service (WID) and coordinates the response to security incidents in federal authorities and beyond. It is the operational arm of governmental incident handling in Germany.
History & facts. As the CERT of a national authority, CERT-Bund combines situational monitoring, a warning service and incident coordination. Via the WID, affected bodies are informed promptly about relevant vulnerabilities, often with reference to concrete CVE identifiers and recommended actions. CERT-Bund is embedded in the international network of CERTs/CSIRTs and in European exchange.

CERT-Bund is organisationally part of the BSI; general availability and reporting routes therefore run through the BSI channels (service centre 0800 274 1000, service-center@bsi.bund.de) or, for NIS2-reportable incidents, through the BSI portal (portal.bsi.bund.de). The warnings are publicly available and can be subscribed to via the Warning and Information Service at wid.cert-bund.de. Outlook & recommendation. Under NIS2, structured cooperation between affected entities and the governmental bodies gains weight — reports ultimately feed into the national situational assessment. Organisations benefit from not merely receiving the warnings but matching them against their own inventory automatically rather than reviewing them by hand.
